O.K. So.... Its like this right... Niel Gaiman's T.V. adaptation of Good Omens, is Fantastic... Brilliant... I could pile superlatives on it for quite a while. I loved it. Now I hasten to add... this isn't a 'review'. At least... not in the ordinary sense of the word. 'Reaction' would be a better description. And... that said... I am a little biased... because I have loved the book since it was first published. And... as anyone who knows me, knows (brd) I am a huge fan of Terry Pratchett, one of my all time favourite people. Never mind author. In a lot of ways the experience reminded me of seeing Jackson's Fellowship of the Ring for the first time. Likewise I loved it, but when it was done... I missed Tom, and Old man Willow. And now... dear reader, if you don't wan't spoilers, would be a good time to postpone reading further.* And with Good Omens I missed, Big Ted, Pigbog, Greaser and Scuzz, AKA  Grievous Bodily Harm....

New boy in the city.

This one isn'the just from the vaults, in my personal history, it's from the equivalent of a cave near the dead sea, about 1979, a first visit to London for a 16 year old from a quiet Derbyshire town. New Boy in the City. Bright lights, Street lights, Night Lights, Go here, Go there, Buy this, Buy some flair. Ego trip drivers, Force on through, Acting like madmen, Missing a screw. Cars rush on by, Breaks squeal and cry, Confusion and sound, Lights all around. All are so urgent, Each life is in crisis, Stores hawking wares, with electric devices. Come look at this, A sale not to miss. Look at this here, Spend and don't care. The sell is so hard, It drives me inside. Force so relentless, It closes my eyes. The city is chaos, Mankind gone mad. I think I'd be angry, But it seems so sad.

Sex objects. (Who to, or to what sex objects, we don't really know)

Cultures across the world have worshipped symbols of masculinity and femininity for all of its archeological history. The evidence suggests that until about 3-5 thousand years ago the feminine dominated. And since then the Masculine has dominated. At least from one point of view. Nice rotund pregnant looking women at the centre of things. Carved into rocks, moulded out of clay. The feminine raised as the creative goddess. The phallus doesn't seem to have existed only from the time of what I shall call, 'the takeover'. It was around thousands of years ago too. It could be argued that the phallus and the womb were worshipped together, as equals. However: something happened at the dawn of civilisation. Different religions began writing about how women were essentially the property of men. Rules written into the books of religions. Demanding the obedience of women, defining their value as brides. Ordering fidellity in women on pain of death. Women became chattle...
